Latest tricks and tips: DOK Brda 2024

We're already counting down to the weekend when we'll finally reunite in Brda with the best company – the winemakers of Brda.

This year, we’ll once again immerse ourselves in the aromas and flavors of their unique wine stories. To make sure you don’t waste any time on the big day and can visit as many cellars as possible, we’ve got some tips and tricks for you, including two new features you won’t want to miss: online routes and bus schedules, and free home delivery of wine!

1. Where do I buy the ticket?

If you don’t have your ticket yet, you can buy it from our online shop. From 1 June onwards, tickets are available at the regular price, as follows:

Tickets are valid for one person and include a wine glass, a wine glass holder bag and a wristband. With your ticket you will receive at least 4 tasting samples at each winery.

We’ll kick things off at Dobrovo Castle, where you can pick up your glasses on Saturday, June 15th, and Sunday, June 16th, starting from 9 AM. We highly recommend arriving a bit early to avoid the last-minute rush and long lines. If you get there early, take the opportunity to explore some interesting spots: visit the village of Šmartno or climb the Gonjače tower for a unique view. The region of Brda is definitely not short on breathtaking sights!

Once you’ve got your glass and wristband, you’re ready to start your cellar visits.

3. Which Wineries Can I Visit?

This year’s DOK event features 36 exceptional winemakers opening their doors. To save you from searching high and low, we’ve uploaded all the contact information and presentations to our website. Each winemaker’s page also has an icon indicating if there will be some delicious food available at their location.

4. How Are the Transports Arranged?

We’ve organized bus transportation again this year, but heads up… the bus tickets are sold out! Since most of you bought your tickets with bus transportation in advance, we’ve already filled all available slots. We’re currently operating at maximum capacity with the largest number of buses and vans the roads in Brda can handle. Unfortunately, bus tickets are no longer available and will not be available on the day of the event – both Saturday and Sunday.

What Are the Alternatives?

  • Drive Yourself: To avoid crowds and, more importantly, driving under the influence, we recommend getting from winery to winery with your own vehicle. Surely there’s someone in your group who isn’t tasting but loves the stories and atmosphere!
  • Carpool: If any of your friends have a van, even better! More of you can travel together in one vehicle.
  • Electric Bikes: You can also travel from winery to winery using electric bikes. The more adventurous can go without electric assistance, though this might mean less wine tasting and more enjoying the scenery.
  • Walking: Wineries are grouped by area, so plan ahead and focus on nearby locations. Park in your chosen area and walk from winery to winery.

Have you checked out our wine map for easier navigation?

Taxi Service: A taxi service is available to take you from location to location or to your chosen accommodation at the end of the day.

5. But If You Do Have a Ticket with Bus Transportation...

Then we have great news for you! This year, we’ve gone modern and eco-friendly by organizing bus routes and schedules online. All the information will be available on the day of the event, Saturday, June 15th, starting at 9 AM at this link:.
Buses will be picking up at designated stops approximately every hour.

While the Open Cellar Days are a tasting event, you will be tasting beverages, so please note that drink-driving is one of the main risk factors for a car accident. Make sure you keep safe – both for yourself and for others.

6. Do you want to hear another great piece of news?

Since we know how annoying it can be to lug around boxes of wine all day (unless you’re driving), we’re offering FREE HOME DELIVERY for the first time this year! This applies to wine purchased from any individual winemaker – as long as you buy a whole box (that’s 6 bottles). Simply fill out a form with your address at the selected winemaker’s booth, and we’ll send the wine to you next week. You can repeat this process with multiple winemakers – there’s no limit. 😊 We’ll also be delivering wine to various accommodations in Brda.

This year, besides memories, you’ll be bringing home some delicious Brda wines. What could be better?

7. I’ll surely be hungry ... Where can I eat something good?

Some winemakers will also offer you something to eat. The gastronomic offer is not included in the ticket price and is payable separately at the individual winery. A list of wineries offering snacks is already published on the map. If you are hungry, we recommend some of the local farms, restaurants and inns.

8. Anything else you're curious about?

If we might have had a glass of rebula too many while preparing this FAQ 😊, feel free to call us anytime at +386-31-363-179 or email us at dok@kontrabant.si.
We recommend you do this a day or so before the event because, as we all know, next weekend will be craaaazy busy!

We're really looking forward to hanging out, how about you?
