DOK Brda 2025: Wine, sun and… who drank the last glass of Rebula?
Once again this year, Brda welcomed us with its signature blend of rolling hills, (blazing) sunshine and excellent wine. And DOK Brda 2025 once again proved it’s one of the most beautiful wine events in Slovenia!
Two days, 32 wineries, countless glasses and even more smiles. This time, the sun-drenched hills were full of visitors – some in campervans, others on e-bikes, or with hiking poles in hand – all with the same goal: to discover their favorite wine of the year. And even though the shuttle buses gave us a bit of trouble and the temperature soared above 30°C, the smiles on everyone’s faces made it clear: in Brda, we forget and forgive everything!
In the morning we said we’d stop at just four wineries – now we’re already at the fifth, and we’ve got four bottles in our backpack.
Brda wine really is top-notch!
Where there’s wine, there are stories
This year too, winemakers opened the doors to their cellars and shared new vintages, old vineyards, memories, and even a few secrets – like why their Rebula always sells out before summer. Well, at least this year, as weather conditions led to a lower yield than usual. Still, nothing stopped the hosts from filling our hearts with joy and laughter.
Last year was full of challenges. It started out rainy, then spring turned warm. When the vines began budding, temperatures dropped below zero twice. It was wet and cold during flowering – the most sensitive time for the vines. So yes, there was less yield, but the wine quality was excellent.
Rebula or nothing
DOK is more than just a wine tasting – it’s a celebration of wine, family, tradition, and community. This year again we met some of the youngest winemakers (some not even allowed to drink yet!) and seasoned pros who know every corner of Brda and can tell you where the sun hits each vine at 1:03 PM. We loved seeing groups of friends, families, and couples in love – some of whom got so caught up in the Rebula and the sunshine that they forgot which cellar they’d already visited.

And if you captured us with your camera this year,
don’t forget to share your impressions on Instagram using #DOK2025 – who knows, your moment might make it into our highlights (or at least our story 😉).
One last question before we go:
Which wine did you discover for the first time this year – and won’t be forgetting anytime soon?
